CITY TAKE COMMUNITY CROWN

Manchester City has won the community shield by defeating Chelsea by 3-2 on 12th of August. The City players scored all the three goals in the second half of the match.

Chelsea took the lead in the 40th minute of the match when Fernando Torres scored a goal by capitalizing on a brilliant reverse pass from Ramires. Fernando Torres was in brilliant form in Euro 2012 and he was the winner of the Golden Boot award in that tournament. He continued his good form in the Community Shield tournament as well.

However, the credit of the first goal should also be given to Ramires who passed the ball brilliantly to Torres and made it easy for him to score the goal. The Chelsea players were delighted after scoring the first goal, but, their happiness couldn’t last long. In the 42nd minute, Chelsea’s defender, Branislas Ivanovic, was shown red card by the referee. This created a hole in the defense of Chelsea.

In the second half, Chelsea played with only 10 players and the players didn’t show the same kind of intensity that they had shown in the first half. In spite of topping the champions league betting, Chelsea struggled to impose themselves on the match.

The City players scored 3 back-to-back goals in the second half and made it very difficult for Chelsea to come back in the match.

In the 53rd minute, City leveled the score when Yaya Toure scored a brilliant goal. From a distance of 20 yards, Toure kicked the ball straight into the corner of the goal post. It was wonderful to watch.

City scored its second goal in 58th minute through Carlos Tevez. Tevez got the ball near the penalty box of Chelsea. He made his way through the midfield beautifully and banged it into the goal post by a fantastic kick.

Samir Nasri made the lead more profound by scoring the third goal for Chelsea in the 65th minute. However, Ryan Bertrand, who came on the field as a substitute, scored a goal for Chelsea in 78th minute and made the score 3-2, but, that didn’t matter much. The City players didn’t let Chelsea score again in the remaining time and won the match.

City remain top of the premier league 2013 betting league, with Manchester United their nearest rivals.
