STRIKING OPTIONS

Manchester City looked short of options upfront only a few weeks ago after the sale of Carlos Tevez to Juventus for around £ 10 million.

However, they have since brought in two strikers in the space of a week and it has strengthened the squad significantly. New City manager Manuel Pellegrini has even claimed that the club now has the best strikeforce amongst all clubs in the Premier league. The squad already boasted the likes of Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko.

Following the arrival of Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo, it is now capable of challenging on all fronts according to Pellegrini.

Recently, Chelsea manager José Mourinho said that much will be expected of Pellegrini in his first season at the club because they have spent a huge amount of money. The club has in fact spent close to £ 100 million in trying to improve the squad from last season. They finished several points behind arch rivals Manchester United as they lost their title after just one campaign. City will now not only be looking to win the Premier league, but also go further ahead in the Champions League as well.

City have been doing well on the pre-season tour of Asia, and striker Edin Dzeko scored the only goal of the match in the 1-0 win over South China.

"I think so, yes, very strong. That's correct. I think we have very good strikers with Dzeko as well. They can play together or we can play one of them with Jovetic or Agüero. We have four very good strikers and that's very necessary if we want to play in the Premier League and Champions League as a competitive team. I know Negredo very well from the Spanish league, so it was not a surprise for me the way he played," said Pellegrini.
