BARRY READY FOR TROPHIES

Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has said that he is ready to enjoy a number of trophies at the club in the coming years.

Manchester City recently won the Premier league title for the first time in their history, while it was also the first league title they have won after a gap of 44 years.

Many are expecting the club to spend big in the summer in the hopes of attaining Champions League glory next season. Gareth Barry joined the club a few seasons ago from Aston Villa, but was heavily criticised for choosing money over football.

However, the former Aston Villa midfielder has said that he has now been proved right that he had taken the best decision for his future. Manchester City are expected to challenge for a number of trophies in the coming years along with the Premier league title, and Gareth Barry has said that he is only happy to be at the club. This is not the first major trophy for Gareth Barry after he lifted the FA Cup last season. It has been a major progress from the club since being taken over by the Abu Dhabi owners in 2008. They have spent close to £ 1 billion in transforming Manchester City into a Premier league winning team.

"Looking back three years ago words were put in my head. But words are so easily spoken and I really thought long and hard about the decision to come here. In the end, I believed the people who told me this club was going places and the type of player they were going to sign. I just thought it was the right decision and that is how it has turned out. And, by the end of my contract, I am sure there will be even more trophies too," said Gareth Barry.
