Roberto Mancini has once again tried to stake a claim in Manchester City’s recent successes by saying that he was the one who built this team. Manuel Pellegrini won the Premier League title in his first season in charge of the club. He joined the illustrious list of managers like Carlo Ancelotti who came from foreign league to win the domestic league in their first season. Mancini made a lot of noises about him being responsible for the current successes because he signed a majority of the players like Vincent Kompany and Yaya Touré.
The Manchester City management doesn’t want any of the star players of the team to be lured away this summer and thus, they have given big contract extension offers to almost all of them.
The news of Vincent Kompany’s 6-year extension broke out earlier today and now, it’s been reported that the Sky Blues have held talks with the Argentina international Sergio Aguero as well and have let him know that they want to extend his contract too.
According to the new deal, in case he signs it, Aguero would be getting two hundred ten thousand Pounds per week for the next 5 seasons.
Manchester City striker Roberto Negredo managed two lift trophies in his first season at the club after his £ 20 million arrival from Sevilla last summer. However, very poor form towards the end of last season meant that Negredo featured very rarely in the City team. He was also left out of the Spanish national team squad as a result of this poor form. This resulted in an indifferent first season. Due to the pace of change at City, he could be set for an exit just 12 months after his arrival.
