MILNER BACKS ENGLAND

The Manchester city midfielder James Milner has said that the England national team can certainly cope with the loss of the former captain John Terry. The Chelsea defender was recently ruled out of the match against Ukraine after suffering a major injury in the match against Moldova.

England were beginning their World Cup qualifying campaign with the matches against Moldova and Ukraine. England got the much anticipated win over Moldova in the first World Cup qualifying match. However, they paid a huge price for the 5-0 win over Moldova due to the fact that John Terry will be missing for the next few matches.

The Chelsea captain was injured in the match, but the England manager Roy Hodgson was unable to take him off into the fact that he had already made his allotted substitutions. Rather than come off the pitch, the Chelsea captain played through the pain barrier in the remainder of the match. It has rendered him unavailable for the match against Ukraine, but the Manchester city midfielder James Milner reckons that the team has enough strength to the squad to be able to replace John Terry without any major problems. Milner scored his first goal for England in the 5-0 victory over Moldova.

“It is not going to weaken the team in any way, obviously JT (Terry) is a top player and will be tough to replace, but we have got a number of top candidates who can step in. He is a top player and we all know that. He performed well the other night and unfortunately picked up an injury. But I think you can see with the strength of the squad and the players we do have, we are fortunate we have got a number of options who can step in there,” he said.
