Manchester City have had some great results against top teams like Manchester United this season, but they have struggled against some of the smaller clubs.
City dropped yet more points at home to a team from the lower half of the table. Earlier in the season, they suffered a defeat against Stoke City and now they have dropped two points against Burnley.
Manchester City’s title defending season has been hit with a few road blocks in this season as Chelsea are rampaging right through everything in its path as the team of Jose Mourinho are riding high at the top of the Premier League with 29 points, they still remain undefeated after 11 league matches.
Southampton is in 2nd place with 25 points and Manchester City is following them behind with 21 points but Manchester City could have dropped a few spots if it wasn’t for Sergio Aguero.
Roberto Mancini has once again tried to stake a claim in Manchester City’s recent successes by saying that he was the one who built this team. Manuel Pellegrini won the Premier League title in his first season in charge of the club. He joined the illustrious list of managers like Carlo Ancelotti who came from foreign league to win the domestic league in their first season. Mancini made a lot of noises about him being responsible for the current successes because he signed a majority of the players like Vincent Kompany and Yaya Touré.
The Argentine defender Martin Demichelis has played in some of the top clubs around the world which includes: River Plate, Bayern Munich, Athletic Madrid and his current club Manchester City. The 33 year old player has experience performing with different clubs and different managers but he has recently launched a negative comment and feedback about Louis van Gaal.
The Manchester City management doesn’t want any of the star players of the team to be lured away this summer and thus, they have given big contract extension offers to almost all of them.
The news of Vincent Kompany’s 6-year extension broke out earlier today and now, it’s been reported that the Sky Blues have held talks with the Argentina international Sergio Aguero as well and have let him know that they want to extend his contract too.
According to the new deal, in case he signs it, Aguero would be getting two hundred ten thousand Pounds per week for the next 5 seasons.
Manchester City striker Roberto Negredo managed two lift trophies in his first season at the club after his £ 20 million arrival from Sevilla last summer. However, very poor form towards the end of last season meant that Negredo featured very rarely in the City team. He was also left out of the Spanish national team squad as a result of this poor form. This resulted in an indifferent first season. Due to the pace of change at City, he could be set for an exit just 12 months after his arrival. Negredo has been linked with a return to Spanish football with Atletico Madrid interested in his services.
Ivory Coast national team boss Sabri Lamouchi has stated that it is now looking highly unlikely that star midfielder Yaya Touré will be fit for the opening match against Japan. Ivory Coast will be taking on Japan in the first match of the tournament on June 14. The Manchester city star, Yaya Touré, is one of the important players. He is expected to shine at the World Cup 2014 and take Ivory Coast to the latter stages of the competition. He comes into the tournament on the back of a very good form that has seen him score more than 20 goals in all competitions from the midfield last season.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has stated that Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini should deserve the credit for transforming this team into a winning outfit. Pellegrini was appointed as a replacement for Roberto Mancini in the summer. He is now set to win the league title in his debut campaign with the club. The club has already added the League Cup to its trophy cabinet. Pellegrini has not always been the most entertaining manager in terms of mind games, but Carragher says that he has made it count where it matters most – on the pitch.
